Nature Walk School Advantage

Nature Walk Montessori School Advantage
Montessori Education

A school that values your child's uniqueness.

Montessori education views the child as one who is naturally eager for knowledge and capable of initiating learning in a supportive, thoughtfully prepared learning environment. It is an approach that values the human spirit and the development of the whole child: physical, social, emotional, and cognitive. The goal of Montessori education is to aid the child’s development into a complete adult human being, comfortable with one’s self, with one’s society, and with humanity as a whole. Montessori education begins with the understanding that the role of the adult is to help the unfolding of the child’s inborn developmental powers.

At Nature Walk Montessori children are engaged peacefully and purposefully in a wide variety of activities

• It’s a mixed-age class
• The children are very independent
• The learning takes place through the child’s own activity
• The classroom is child-centered, not teacher-centered
• The curriculum is highly individualized
Environment and Sustainability

A school that is committed to sustainability.

Nature walk Montessori School is a green school campus registered with Eco-Schools USA. Our campus is designed not just as boxes to hold classrooms, but as real-world teaching tools to teach environmental science. We strive to lead by example to practice ecological respect and responsibility. We step outside the classroom & connect students to nature using hands-on learning opportunities.

At Nature Walk, a considerable amount of activities focus on making students environmental stewards and understand the role we play in both the preservation and desecration of the planet. Through activities such as plant care, gardening, composting, careful use of available resources (reducing, reusing, and recycling), and respect for all animal life, children become socially responsible in the care of our planet.

Community Involvement

A school that empowers the community.

Montessori is a community-based method of education. While it is centered on the needs of each individual student, it required the participation of the whole classroom community through teamwork and mentoring. Nature Walk Montessori School is a group of students, educators, families, and community partners working together towards the common goal of educating our children in a mutually-supportive community while creating and strengthening ties to the larger society.

We follow the spiral model and ensure that social responsibility is practiced in the classroom, the school, the school community, and the larger community. Early on, we model for the student's respect and cooperation. Elementary students visit the younger classroom to read and serve them during school events. Adolescent children help during school dismissal and work during summer camp. Within the school community, we have multiple communities and collaborative like the Nature walk community, family care committee. In a larger community, our teachers and students, always look for an opportunity to serve the immediate community. Yearly our elementary and adolescent students visit and assist and the memory care facility. We have a parents organization and other community events to engage with the community. We also provide mentoring to other school administrators and support other local businesses.
